Swartburg weekend

tribeBomber and Trish were invited to Swartberg Club's coaching weekend on 11th and 12th January.  The weather was very kind to horses and players with an icy wind and heavy clouds blocking out the fierce sun.  The setting in the magnificent Swartberg farming area, was stunning with large shady oaks and top quality grassy fields.  The turnout was impressive with a majority of very keen juniors and the practice was run efficiently by Noel Bauer with each player having at least 5 chukkas each day on one horse, however, the Gilsons had 9-10 chukkas each as they had 2 - 3 horses each.  Visitors to the practice were Vincent and Vince Potgieter as well as Jen Schiever from Estcourt.

Footstick trick competition

footstick trick (trav and lynton)I picked up Travis and Lynton from the Timm farm in Mooi river at about half 8, - from there we set off off for Carolines place in Greytown, about an hour and 45 minutes from Peitermaritsburg. After driving down this dusty road for about half hour, both myself and Lynton began to worry about Travis and his directions - but we eventually came into sight of Carolines garden - and the catastrophe that stood before us- she really should be commended for taking on all those kids, it’s a real service to polocrosse and the parents whose kids are there, they really do enjoy it and it makes for a great week.

Dunboy Gymkana

There is a very exciting time ahead for young local riders with Caroline Minnaar's Polocrosse Camp from 8th to 12th December and the Dunboy Gymkhana on Saturday 13th December
