Bit for my TB

My new Thoroughbred is trying to pull the reins out of my hands, hes quite strong and either puts his head down or right up whenever I try slow him down. He's being ridden in a loose ring snaffle. He gets very strong in the canter aswell.

Hi Rhiain,

The Snaffle creates a squeezing pressure on the bars which a lot of horses object to, it will also create a small pressure point on the tongue. This pressure asks the horse to raise their head, which is often the opposite of what we actually want. The Snaffle is a lot stronger than we have been led to believe.

I recommend going to a Loose Ring Ported Barrel. The Ported Barrel will remove the pressure from his tongue, it will also large eliminate the squeezing on the bars. You will find that he is happier to go into the bit and he will stop trying to yank the reins out of your hand.
