Horse with access gum

Hi I have a mare that was always a bit "heady" but is progressively getting worse when moved into a pelim, then moved her back to straight bar snaffle- got a little better but still unsettled. Dentist was just with me and said she has a lot of access gum in front of the tooth where the bit lies, and has developed sores in the area, he suggested contacting you guys for advice. Can you please help.??
