Bit for showjumping and cross country

Hi there, my thoroughbred gelding is ridden in a loose ring french link for dressage and I just find that he can get a bit rushy and not listen to me on a bad day, but when jumping he puts his head up like a giraffe and ends up in a very bouncy canter before jumps because I'm fighting him and in cross country its like I have no breaks! I'm wondering if he is not liking the french link or just need a different cheek piece.

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your clear description!

The signs your horse is showing point to him not being very comfortable with tongue pressure, and the French Link uses mostly tongue pressure.

I recommend the Loose Ring Ported Barrel for your horse. This will take the pressure off his tongue, which will allow him to lower his head and go into the contact. The Loose Ring gives a very fast release from pressure, which ensures the horse receives the reward quickly.
