Please help

My daughters mare is 11 years old, has a large tongue, narrow jaw and a flat palate and dislikes any nut cracker action and dislikes poll pressure of any kind. She likes to hold onto the bit and spin. She is currently in a loose ring waterford but we are looking for something better suited to her. When she has a bit in her tongue sits to one side and pokes out a little. When ridden she likes to evade the contact in the school but out hacking she is well behaved. Some one recommended a ported bit??
We have been recommended to speak to you.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi Sarah,

Thank you for your question.

I do think that a ported bit would be better for your daughter's mare. We will need to keep to one of the narrower ports though, with a narrow bottom jaw we will need to ensure that the port fits correctly.

I recommend a Loose Ring Bomber Blue for the mare. The Bomber Blue will take the pressure off her tongue very well. The top of the port is flattened so that it will sit comfortably between her tongue and palate. We make the Bomber Blue is various port sizes, what size bit does the mare normally use? The Bomber blue will need to be smaller than the Waterford because it sits in the mouth differently.
