What bit best suits my extreamly sensitve OTTB?

What bit would best work for a very sensitive horse that when pressure is applied throws their head in the air and twists their head to the side? She also constant chomps/chews at the bit. She's currently in a loose ring happy mouth Mullen with a roller, but we have tried a single jointed d-ring, loose ring happy mouth Mullen, loose ring nathe (Mullen), and a French link d-ring with copper lozenge with her. All the bits resulted in the same reaction were are experiencing now except the single jointed d-ring which resulted in head shaking and rearing. I'm at a loss, thanks!

Hi Morgan,

Thank you for your message.

Your mare has quite a sensitive mouth. The bits you have tired create a mixture of tongue and squeezing pressure on the bars. Some more tongue and some more squeezing on the bars. Your mare is objecting to both of these, though it seems her objection to a large amount of sqeezing on the bars is much stronger.

I recommend an Eggbutt Ultra Comfy Lock Up for her. The Ultra Comfy is double locked so that it cannot fold downwards or backwards, this means that it retains its shape in the horse’s mouth, and it eliminates any nut cracker action.  The mouth piece is also angled on the sides, so that it goes up and over the tongue, this greatly reduces tongue pressure, while not greatly increasing pressure on the bars.
