Which bit?

Hi I would like advice for my 15.2hh mare, she works at elementry and competes novice BD. She is ridden in a neule shule verbinend or the team up, I think she doesn’t like the tongue pressure as most of the time you can see her tongue on the right hand side of her mouth, she can lean but not all the time, not strong but just feels resistant. I tried her today in a ky rotary bit which I think helped a bit but did have some tongue poking. She is ridden with a loose cavesson noseband, she was in a miklem but started to object to the noseband being done up even tho i5 was loose ????‍♀️

Hi Julia,

The Ky Rotary Bit does not create quite as much tongue pressure as the Verbendend and the Team Up, this is why she was a little better in that mouth piece.

Your mare is not showing very strong signs of being sensitive to pressure being placed on the tongue, but the subtle signs are there.

I recommend a Loose Ring Ultra Comfy Lock Up for her. The Ultra Comfy is double locked so that it cannot fold downwards or backwards, this means that it retains its shape in the horse’s mouth, and it eliminates any nut cracker action.  The mouth piece is also angled on the sides, so that it goes up and over the tongue, this greatly reduces tongue pressure, while not greatly increasing pressure on the bars.
