Ported Barrel

Please explain the different action of a loose ring ported barrel and the Pelham ported barrel with a curb chain?

Bomber prefers the loose ring due to the quick release of the rein pressure and always recommends going with the softer option rather than the stronger one. However, it is sometimes necessary to add pressure in competitive situations where the horse is excited. The pelham action incurs poll, bar and curb pressure which can be increased or lessened by the length of the shank. The ported barrel is aimed at reducing tongue pressure therefore we would recommend adding pressure gradually so as to establish how much the horse will accept.
