Bit for strong and unbalanced horse?

I have tried many bits on my gelding who is very strong but none seem to work when we get on the xc or sj course. At the moment he is ridden in a french link full cheek piece bit which he goes lovely in dressage but i need more control in jumping.I have tried a copper roller but it made it even harder to pull him back. I have also tried a myler level two which again did not help to bring him back at all. Lastly i tried a french link dutch gag which he absolutely hated and was throwing his head around and becoming quite stroppy due to the poll action.
P.s he also is ridden in a flash strap.

His head is high and he sort of locks it so that he is very heavy and hard to move.

Hi Prue, I need to ask you one or two questions before I recommend a bit for your horse. What does your horse do with his head in the cross country? Is his head high or low? Any details you can give me on what he does with his head and neck when he is strong will help. Regards, Claire @ Bombers - Claire @ Bombers 3 years ago
