TB occasionally ignoring bit in matches

I've got a TB 7 year old mare ex racer playing polo. She is very light with good head carriage. During matches she can stop listening to me and become very strong and ignore my stop/check up requests. I play her in a loose ring gag, I have played her in a barry gag and she is better but I don't really like putting a 7 year old in a barry. Do you have any suggestions - buster roller? I school and exercise her in a french link snaffle.

Also another question - TB 14 year old mare ex racer. She carries her head quite high and is prone to head shaking when checking up in matches. She can also put her head on the floor after a fast run. I play her in a normal loose ring gag. She has pretty good brakes. I school and exercise her in a french link snaffle.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
